LET’S GO FOR SOME COMFORT!
For any of you planning to spend more than a brief camping trip in your RV you need to know right up front that your furniture may not provide the comfort standard you were accustomed to in your stick built home. RV furniture looks nice and is always well coordinated color wise with the rest of your home on wheels. However, it appears to me that comfort wasn’t really a consideration.
We have been in our RV full-time now for just over 2 years. We trashed the bed that came with the RV before we even moved into it and brought with us our own Simmons Beautyrest mattress. For us, that was a great choice as we are assured of a comfortable night’s sleep and getting adequate rest.
The Decision To Upgrade Was Made!
Upon returning to the Pacific Northwest this spring our first major purchase was new furniture. A visit to the Laz-Boy store in Spokane WA was worth every minute it took us to choose our new furniture. With the help of Michael Howe, store manager, we found two recliners and a couch that not only fit the space requirements of our RV home but also provided amazing comfort.
The colors and fabric we wanted in the pieces we had chosen were not in stock on the store floor. We ordered them made at the factory and were told they would be completed and delivered in 6 weeks. Delivery was accomplished on time and relaxing in our RV living room is now an …ahhhh moment!! Comfort is NOT overrated! It’s important, very important.
With more and more people taking to the road or choosing to live in their RV’s full-time this is an area that I feel manufacturers need to address. It shouldn’t be necessary to replace each piece of furniture in a brand new RV before you can comfortably reside in it for more than 10 minutes. Montana??? Are you listening??
