Odd Restaurant Combinations that we see in our RV Travels
Now that we have driven north and south and a bit of the east and west, we have found some odd restaurant combinations. The first one I noticed was a cute older looking house with a big sign and reader board for CAFE. Nice downtown location, on the main highway, it seems pretty good to me. Lo and behold, what else is in the same building? DOG GROOMING. What! This was not an upscale city where you have retail stores on one level and condos rising above. This was a small town where one would expect to find a cafe or a dog groomer. NOT in the same place with the same entry door. So, of course, I wonder. Does the cook or busboy also clip the dogs? Is there dog hair in the apple pie? I love apple pie, by the way.
What an odd restaurant combination, we haven’t ever eaten there and unless it is the only place open for hundreds of miles, it’s off the list. Oh, somewhere in Montana we did see a Barber shop entrance with the same door for the Bow Wow quick cuts.
Sometimes pulling our 5th wheel, I don’t always get to look around as much as I would like. Although, The Wife might say I look around a bit too much. But that’s a different discussion. Anyway, we were in Newport, Oregon on US Hwy 101 on the Pacific Coast, and I saw Buffalo Wings and Shaved Ice. Is that an odd restaurant combination?
About a block away is KUMY ON Chinese. I did think we could try DaFatBoyz Barbecue though. How about OceanCea Restaurant? Why didn’t they spell it Ocean Sea Restaurant since the whole town thrives on the fact it is on the Pacific Ocean?

And This One Is My Favorite!
My favorite, and believe me, it makes total sense. Now that marijuana is legal for medical and recreational use where we travel is, get this, FLASHBACKS FOUNTAIN AND GRILL side by side with the GREEN CROSS MARIJUANA SHOP. That is creative marketing at it’s best and great location too. Get some bud, get some munchies, and more munchies and more. Well you get the picture. This is not an odd restaurant combination in the least.
Bikini Baristas, what do you think?
Cowgirl Espresso Stands in Renton, Washington are painted black and white like holstein cows. There is one on the way up the hill from where we were camped. So I go rolling in there in the F350 dually with The Wife, as a passenger. The cute girl comes to the floor to ceiling glass window. Then it finally dawns on me. It’s one of those naked bikini baristas coffee places that I’ve heard about. Creepy and awkward. The poor girl working there is dressed (sort of) in a very skimpy bikini top and a tiny piece of cloth for a bottom.
So now I have lots of questions. How naked is naked? And what about the poor girl working there? Is she embarrassed? Does she like it? Is working half dressed the only means she has to support her kids? Does she get cold? Does the coffee even taste good or does anyone even care? Anyway, the coffee was fair. I gave her a sizeable tip and we went on our way. For sure my last stop at the bikini baristas.
I’m sure somewhere in our RV Travels from Washington to Arizona we’ll find more great restaurants, coffee shops and even dog groomers. What odd restaurant combinations do you see in your travels?
