IT WAS A PARTY! A VERY NICE PARTY!
Friends were present. Family members were present. The tables were beautifully adorned with floral centerpieces, candles, white table clothes. There was a feast fit for a King. There were multiple drink options. There were party favors. There was a slide show and copious amounts of framed still shots. There was an outstanding MC. There were laughs and more laughs. There were memories. Then there were even more memories.
Celebrating A Long Life Spent Together
It was a celebration. An amazing celebration of a long life spent together and the family, friends and memories that grew out of those two joined lives.
The Husband’s remark to me later went something like this, “hmmm, guess we’d be about 120 before we’ve been together enough years to warrant such a celebration huh?” Uh, yeah, I’ve no great desire to live to be even 100 let alone 120!! Because we had each been married in our previous lives and haven’t even reached the 10 year mark yet, I’m pretty sure we’ll never celebrate as many years together as were celebrated by the happy couple today.
It Was The Perfect Celebration For That Particular Couple
While the celebration today was the perfect one for this particular couple, it wouldn’t be the one for me. The introvert in me has no desire to be center stage at that type of event. I would be the one volunteering to be in the kitchen serving the others or volunteering to be on the clean up crew. Center stage? No thanks. That’s not me.
Take me on a trip. Sign us up for a cruise. That’s my idea of a great way to celebrate a special occasion. I can blend in and relax with that type of celebration. While some people enjoy the limelight I know it only makes me uncomfortable. Whether it’s a planned limelight or a surprise makes no difference. The result is the same.
