PEOPLE WATCHING – TRYING TO TURN BACK THE CLOCK
Do you ever “people watch”? It’s really pretty entertaining. Grab a cup of coffee or tea at a coffee shop and just observe the other clientele while enjoying your drink. While having a cup of coffee yesterday in Coeur d’Alene, ID we had an interesting chance to people watch. Three older people sat across from us. A couple and a single woman. All appeared to be in their late 70’s. The couple were making every attempt (that money could buy) to look like they were much much younger. Both appeared to have undergone extensive surgical attempts to reverse the aging process. The man sported an, unfortunately obvious, wig and both appeared to do their clothes shopping at the stores that cater to the under 25 crowd. Sadly, ridiculous is how they looked. It was very apparent that no amount of money had been spared but the result was not becoming.
The other lady accompanying them was beautiful. Dressed in summer attire, a simple short sleeved shirt, capris and sandals, gray hair nicely styled and light makeup. She obviously was comfortable with her age and knew how to make the most of her best features. The couple? Their attempts to turn back the clock just came off looking comical and somewhat sad.
When money is no object, what would you do? Would you attempt to reverse time? Or would you use your resources to look the best you can at each age and be your healthiest at each?
